For all the years we've home schooled our children, we've given them their birthdays off. We make the day special, all about the birthday child. He or she gets to choose everything we do for the day, all the meals we eat and places we go.
So many of Thao's birthdays were spent baking, painting, going on adventures, swimming...
And although I know at 8 years old, his choices would have changed some, I have to believe they would have changed too much.
Today will be filled with love and tears and adventure and swimming and sweet treats, in memory of our sweet Thao's 8th birthday.
We'll remember and celebrate the past. We'll be "all in" and choose joy in the present. We'll look forward with hope to the future, the future of eternity with Christ, where our Thao waits for us.
Happy Birthday, Thao. Our best adventure began 8 years ago, when you were born. You are still a gift that we will treasure for all our lives. We celebrate God's blessings of life, of peace, and of grace today.
